Author's Bio

Raquel Perez is a new children's book author and proud mom of Kalob & Haley. She is a multigenerational Mexican-American born and raised in Florida. She has resided in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area for over a decade. Raquel enjoyed school and was an avid reader writing her first “book” when she was in elementary school. She thought she might become a writer, an interior designer, or even a flight attendant but life’s ever-changing paths led her to become a mom first. In her free time, she enjoys weekly dinner dates with her adult kids or going to the movies.

In 2021, the story Raquel wrote as a kid was discovered in the public library by a resident in her hometown of Immokalee, Florida, who posted it on Facebook. The reemergence of her childhood book reignited her aspiration.

Raquel wanted to share her ethnic roots in her books and decided to make them bilingual written in English & Spanish. She has created a series of 26 books titled: A to Z Kids, one book for each letter of the alphabet. She speaks, reads, and writes in Spanish fluently but confesses lost focus on ensuring her 2 kids were when they were younger. Now in adulthood, they wish they were more fluent. She wants to encourage parents and teachers to introduce bilingual reading/education to their children as exposure and focus on bilingualism is most optimal at a young age.

She aims to enrich the lives of children with her books and hopes her dual language storytelling will bring a smile to a child’s face. Decades after she authored her first story, Raquel is overjoyed to present the debut A to Z Kids children’s book: Ariel and the Avocados/Ariel y los Aguacates. Happy reading!
