Meet Raquel

Hi, I'm Raquel, my family and friends call me Rachel! I am a proud mom of two adults, a children's book author and founded Rkh Publishing, a Texas press in 2023.

I was born in Florida and grew up in an agricultural town called Immokalee. I also lived in a small Texas town called Spur during my teen years. I have lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the last twenty years. I worked almost 30 years in the banking and finance industry. Now, I have more time to dedicate to my children's books.

When I'm not writing, you can usually find me cooking, singing, on a lunch/dinner date with my kids. As a mother and a published author, I believe early learning should also help build strong bonds along with teaching the alphabet and vocabulary.

As a fifth-generation Mexican-American, I am proud to share my heritage through my books, which are bilingual in English and Spanish. While celebrating my roots, the stories embrace all heritages and ethnicities by featuring a child from a different background in every book. 

I believe one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is a love for reading, paired with the confidence of knowing they are loved, seen, and heard. My books create a reading space where children can enjoy simple stories filled with the excitement of learning, hobbies/interests, and close connections.
